Duff Malkin, President

Duff was re-elected BC Phil president at the Society's annual general meeting in 2011. He collects world-wide used aerogrammes and often contributes articles to the Society's newsletter. He is a long-time member of the BC Phil, and has previously served as Secretary.

Trevor Larden, Vice President

Trevor was re-elected as BC Phil Vice President at the Society's annual general meeting in 2011. He has previously served as President and on various VANPEX committees, and is a Life Member. Trevor collects only used stamps: Canada to 2001; Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland to 2000; GB commemoratives to end of Millennium series; Israel (first 50 years), Hong Kong to Communist takeover.


derren Derren J. Carman, Treasurer

Derren was re-elected BC Phil Treasurer at the Society's annual general meeting in 2011; he served in the same position several years ago, and is the Immediate Past Vice President. Derren also maintains the Society's library of philatelic books and catalogues, and has been the prolific designer of Society and exhibition souvenir covers, labels, and posters, and served as exhibits chair for VANPEX 2009 and other BC Phil exhibitions. He also manages the Society's membership list. Derren collects Manchuokuo stamps and postal history, postcards and other memorabilia associated with the world's first jetliner, the Comet, and is a German civil-censorship specialist.

Martine Mercier, Secretary

Martine collects art stamps and covers as well as philatelic items reflecting the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. In addition to her duties as secretary, she is Exhibits Chair for VANPEX 2012.




bob Bob Ingraham, Immediate Past President

Bob collects stamps and covers related to Great Britain's wartime economy, the Battle of the Atlantic, RAF/RCAF Bomber Command during the early years of the Second World War, the Vietnam War, and propeller-driven airliners, particularly the early Douglas airliners.In addition to serving as club president, he has been the vice president and VANPEX Exhibits Chair.

  • Eric Ranger, the club's Archivist, currently serves as a club auctioneer, and has served as VANPEX Awards Committee Chair.

  • Leslie S.S. Upton coordinates the sales circuits from the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada. If you tell him what you collect, he will request circuit books to match your interests.

  • Yichuan Sang (a.k.a. Mulberry Sam) edits the club newsletter. EMAIL him or telephone 604-780-8199.

  • Mike Strachan serves as a club auctioneer. Trevor Larden, Leslie S.S. Upton, Fritz Graf, and Derren Carman also help with our auctions.

  • President Duff Malkin arrives early for every meeting to set up tables and chairs and organize the snack table.

  • Fritz Graf, our "handyman-on-call," is always prepared to lift, carry, deliver this or that here or there, drill a hole, mount a bracket, pound a nail, wield a screwdriver, or repair an exhibit frame. Fritz often serves as a generous "taxi driver" for members who no longer drive.
